EATONTOWN, N.J., Sept. 25 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Osteotech, Inc.(NASDAQ:OSTE) , a leader in the emerging field of biologicsolutions for regenerative medicine, announced today theappointment of Cato T. Laurencin, M.D., Ph.D. to its Board ofDirectors. Dr. Laurencin joined the Board of Directors effectiveSeptember 24, 2008 and will serve on both the Audit and theCompensation Committees of the Board of Directors.

Since August 2008, Dr. Laurencin has been the Vice President forHealth Affairs and the Dean of the School of Medicine at theUniversity of Connecticut. Dr. Laurencin holds the Albert and WildaVan Dusen Endowed Chair in Academic Medicine and is theDistinguished Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at the University ofConnecticut. Previously, Dr. Laurencin was the Lillian T. PrattDistinguished Professor and the Chair of the Department ofOrthopaedic Surgery at the University of Virginia and theOrthopaedic Surgeon-in-Chief at the University of Virginia HealthSystem. Dr. Laurencin has been widely published in scholarlyjournals and holds more than twenty U.S. patents. He is also amember of the Institute of Medicine of the National Academy ofSciences.
