Invitation to Participate as Conference Delegate in the 5th Asia Maritime & Logistics Conference and Exhibition 2008, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia It gives us great pleasure to inform you that the Malaysian Shipowners’ Association (MASA) is organizing the international 5th Asia Maritime & Logistics Conference and Exhibition 2008 with the theme, “Sustaining Growth Amidst Rising Uncertainties”. The event will be held from 24-25 June 2008 at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, Kuala Lumpur. In conjunction with the event a maritime Exhibition will be held at the same venue. We are pleased to inform you that we have invited the Prime Minister of Malaysia, Hon Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi to officiate and deliver a keynote address at the 5th Asia Maritime & Logistics Conference and Exhibition 2008. Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamed, the former Prime Minister of Malaysia & Honorary President of Perdana Leadership Foundation has accepted our invitation to deliver a luncheon talk on the global geo-political change and impact on Asia as trade & shipping. Over the years, since we started organizing the Asia Maritime & Logistics Conference, the event has emerged as a landmark maritime event in the region. MASA is proud to have developed the biennial event as a platform to showcase Asia’s achievements and growing leadership in the global maritime industry. In this year’s forum, the selected theme is aimed at exploring the new challenges facing the global maritime industry in the wake of changes in shipping and trading regimes and volatilities in the market place, including current uncertainties posed with the escalation of oil and ship prices. Regional and national maritime issues with regards to policy formulation and industry dynamics will also be examined. The Asia Maritime & Logistics Conference and Exhibition is one of the best-attended shipping events in this region. Some of the speakers at the past events included from the International Maritime Organisation, The World Bank, International Labour Organisation, International Tanker Operators’ organization (Intertanko), World Shipping Council, US Border Customs, Japan Shippers Council, Indian Ministry of Shipping and Australian Maritime Safety Authority. We expect this year the 5th Asia Maritime & Logistics Conference and Exhibition 2008 to be attended by about 700 participants from all over the world. A maritime exhibition will be held in conjunction with the 5th Asia Maritime & Logistics Conference and Exhibition 2008 at the state-of-the-art Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre.
